Inspired by the Blues festival, Glastonbury festival was born on the 19th of September 1970 and has since grown to become a place for contemporary arts with many household names performing over the years. A fund raising event for various charies, Glastonbury festival, founded by Michael Eavis has seen a turnout of about 1,500 people when it first started to a staggering attendance of well over 135,000. It became known as Glastonbury festival of contemporary arts in 1990 as a reflection of the diverse attractions within the festival. Generally a three day event, running anywhere between the 24th and the 29th of June.
